Welcome to the Drawing Board #12!

Exciting news- I'm wrapping up this Spring with two unique exhibitions: The Demuth Museum Invitational and 6X10B, a truly special drawing exhibition that I've helped to co-curate! Hear more about these on the new podcast episode that debuted this morning and check out the links below!

The Demuth Annual Invitational: In Good Company

I'm honored to have been invited to take part in the Demuth Museum's annual invitational exhibition alongside all of these amazing artists:

With the very open theme of "friendship", I looked back into my flat files and found an effort that I think is a wonderful fit. This is the drawing of my good friend, life-model, and fellow excellent artist Tina, completed in silverpoint during an open model session. Here's my statement from the exhibition:

My friend Tina is a truly amazing life model- she’s uniquely positioned for the role, which she treats as an extension of her own creative practice, because she’s an artist with a passion for narrative. I’ve been lucky to be able to collaborate with her many times over the last decade, and this drawing is one of those instances. Tina was posing for an open drawing session hosted by the Pennsylvania College of Art & Design, and the many attendants drew her figure as if she were a model. Which is great- but they were observing and recording her in that role exclusively. I remember actively considering her when drawing, and walking away from the session proudly having captured a portrait of my friend in silverpoint: a medium that requires and excites mindfulness, is precious, and uncommon.

I've Co-Curated an Amazing Show in 6x10B with Curio!

I spent a good chunk of time in the new podcast episode discussing the awesome drawing exhibition that Matt Allyn Chapman, Nicole Duquette, Jeff Geib, and I curated, so I won't double down here too much. Just know exhibitions like these never happen- and this is our second one! It's well worth the time to visit the Lancaster area and see the drawings in person if you're able. Hear more about it on the podcast.

My drawing is a nightmare to photograph at the moment - so I'll happily share a crop of it here in hopes you'll find your way to view the artwork in person!
