Welcome to the Drawing Board: #4!Hi All! I hope you're having a fantastic week. With my online Sketchbook Development course starting up this Monday evening, I've been more reflective lately when it comes to my sketchbook practice and habits. I've also been enjoying looking at artwork closely, and really diving into the practice of developing both an artwork and a creative habit. These topics were explored on the blog this week, and I think you'll really enjoy them- more below! Blog Post Round Up:So many exciting things to share:
Sketchbook Development Online Starts This Monday! My popular online course starts up again this Monday- we're exploring Dichotomies this round! (Think "optical"/"tactile", "local"/"global", "high contrast"/"low contrast", etc) - it'll be a great time. Connect with creative peers and work on filling up a sketchbook live over Zoom for 8 Monday evenings, 1/27 - 3/17! Explore art history, technique, and design through bold contrasts and dynamic sketching! Give me a shout if you have any questions!
Productivity:The productivity conversation is continued this week on the blog with the Pomodoro Technique post from today. But, I want to share a link to a wonderful NPR article that Kenzie shared with us on the Discord that sums up how I think I best work: tackling creative projects with peers! Thanks Kenzie! The Podcast:It's been lots of fun getting to interview some of my favorite artists- I'm recording another interview this afternoon! Who would you like to see as a guest? What questions and topics would you like explored? I'd love to hear from you. Reply and let me know! Once an official launch date is confirmed, you'll be the first to know! Be on the lookout for an announcement next month. "I wanted to begin a daily sketchbook habit to immerse myself in and develop my life drawing practice. I felt a sketchbook would allow me to incorporate a journaling component that was less imposing than a finished work on a panel. I often work on art that takes weeks or months to finish, and this project was a welcomed deviation."

Thanks so much for reading the Drawing Board newsletter! Next week we'll wrap up our discussion on productivity - Thanks so much for your feedback and additions everybody! It's been wonderful reading about your productivity habits. It makes me wonder- what do you struggle with when it comes to being productive in your creative practice? I've heard so many tips, and not so many frustrations. We'll explore that next week! Keep the conversation going by joining our Discord server, if that's your thing, and as always- please keep me updated on what you've got going on! It's great to hear from you. Happy drawing, |
